Overview

Barmer is 224 km away from Jodhpur. Barmer nicely presents its culture’ with vibrant colours of Rajasthan, tradition and harsh climate. This district is found by the Bahada Rao or Bar Rao and gave its name Barmer. This district is famous for its crafts, dances and music as well its considered to be the hub of carved wooden furniture and carpets. Barmer is popularly famous for its temples such as the temple of Kiradu, temple of Ranchhriji, Balark temple and the famous Jain temple Nakoda Parsvanath temple. When people come down to Barmer they get a very close look of rural Rajasthan.

Barmer Fairs and Festivals

Tilwara Cattle Fair : It is a major cattle fair which held in the village Tilwara in Rajasthan. Tilwara cattle fair is a trade for camels, cows, sheeps and goats.

Veeratara Mela : Veeratara is a fair which held for the admiration of Goddess Valkadevi, This Veeratara Mela held thrice a year in the month of Bhadrapada, Chaitra and Magha.

Khed Fair : Khed fair is the religious fair which is held on every Poornima at the Ranchor Rai Mandir.

Parsvanath Fair : Parsvanath fair held in Meva Nagar’s Jain temple, it take place on Posh Badi to venerate the birth anniversary of Jian Prophet Parsvanath.

Barmer Thar Festival : The famous Barmer Thar festival was started by the Rajasthan tourism to promote the tourism sector of the state. This festival takes place in the month of March every year. Now a day this fair is an intrinsic part of the cultural heritage of Barmer.

1Jasol :

Jasol is situated in Barmer district, the erstwhile huge state of Mallani in Rajasthan. Its name derived from the juvenile of a Rathore sub-clan. There are many places to view here like Jain temple and a Hindu temple. The Hindu temple is decorated with fine sculptures, which were brought from the Jain temple devoted to lord Mahavir.

2Juna Barmer :

Juna Barmer is an earliest town hovering on a rocky hill in Barmer. Juna Barmer has an old fort of Barmer, and it houses a temple committed to Balark and the earliest ruins of Juna Barmer. The temples of Jain, an inscription dating back to 1295 and an enormous pillar in the hall of the temple of Maharaja Kula Sri, Samanta Sinha Deva are worth visiting.

3Khed :

Khed is 142 km from Barmer, placed on the bank of Luni river. An ancient time Khed was the capital of the Rathores and they ruled over the entire region. The temple of Ranchhodrairiji is the main attraction for the tourist which is devoted to Lord Vishnu. The temple Ranchhodrairiji was in frail condition but the common repairs have been carried out and now it has been restructured.

4Kiradu :

Kiradu is a town on the bottom of a hill near village of Hathama and located in Barmer tehsil. It’s a vital site from the archaeological point of view because the temple of Kiradu is a group of five temples. It is a largest and extraordinary which is placed in the mid of Someshvara temple. The temple of Someshvara is structured in the honour of the Lord Shiva and it is dedicated to the God with beautiful sculptures.

5Mallinath :

Mallinath is a grand cattle fair which is well known in Rajasthan. It’s seized annually near Tilwara village in the district of Barmer. It’s a grand fair in Rajasthan and attracts various people from the state and from the neighbour state like Gujrat, Madhya Pradesh. This fair goes a fortnight. During this fair, traders buy a high breed of camels, cows, goats and sheeps.

6Meva Nagar :

Meva Nagar is 9 km away from Baltra and situated near the village of Baltra. In previous time this place was known as Viranipur. Meva Nagar has three Jain temples. The temple of Nakoda Parsvanath is the biggest and the best. You can visit to the temple of Vishnu also.

7Neemari :

Neemari is 23 km away from Barmer. Neemari is situated on the Chohatan route. It is another scenic garden and has an attraction of an old swimming pool.
